The BA9s designation translates as a 9mm Bayonet socket with a single contact on the bottom and two directly opposed side tabs.

This miniature BA9s bulb is commom in small courtesy lights and the ubiquitous Hella Chart Lamps found on many late model Beneteau, Hunter and Catalina sailboats (see picture at right). It uses a single high-output SMD LED that provides an on-axis light output. This makes it suitable for lamps like the Hella that use the bulb in a vertical orietation (with light directed out from the end of the bulb). Because of its small size it does not contain our constant-current circuit, or a polarity bridge, so it is suitable for 12V applications only, and your fixure must be wired (or rewired) with the correct +/- polarity.
